Mary-Jean (MJ) is from northern Virginia and received her BS in biomedical engineering from the University of Virginia in 2023. As an undergraduate at UVA, she worked in the lab of Dr. Bryan Berger on furthering the sustainable biomanufacturing of silica nanoparticles by characterizing the expression, stability, and functional mechanism of silicatein; a protein with biomineralization activity. At Cornell, MJ works in the lab of Dr. Ben Cosgrove on exploring the noncoding RNA regulation of skeletal muscle regeneration and disease using spatial transcriptomics and spatial total RNA sequencing. Outside of the lab, MJ enjoys reading fantasy books, climbing, lifting, and being outside weather permitting.
